The Arrow Crab, also known as Stenorhynchus seticornis, is an intriguing and unique addition to marine aquariums. With its distinctive appearance and fascinating behavior, this crab species captures the attention of hobbyists and enthusiasts alike.

Arrow Crabs are relatively small in size, reaching an average length of about 4 inches. They require a well-established aquarium with a minimum tank size of 20 gallons, providing ample hiding places and live rock structures to mimic their natural habitat. They are generally peaceful towards other tank inhabitants but may show aggression towards smaller crustaceans, so caution is advised when selecting tankmates.

Known for their long, spindly legs and arrow-shaped body, Arrow Crabs possess a striking appearance that sets them apart. They are highly skilled scavengers and opportunistic feeders, often searching for leftover food or capturing small invertebrates. Supplementing their diet with meaty foods, such as small pieces of shrimp or fish, will help ensure their nutritional needs are met.

Originating from the Caribbean and Western Atlantic, the Arrow Crab is found in shallow reef environments. They exhibit interesting behavior, often using their specialized front claws to capture and manipulate food items. Their ability to climb rocks and explore crevices adds to their captivating presence within the aquarium.

Please note that Arrow Crabs are known to be escape artists, so it's essential to provide a secure aquarium lid to prevent their escape. Additionally, maintaining stable water conditions with appropriate salinity, temperature, and water quality is crucial for their well-being.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 72-78°F
